Selangor FC is delighted to announce the signing of Kosovo defender Arbenit Xhemajli as the club’s fourth foreign import and seventh new addition ahead of the upcoming Malaysia League season.
Arbenit brings with him a wealth of experience, having played professionally in several countries throughout his career. He has previously represented Neuchâtel Xamax and FC Vaduz in Switzerland, Sunderland in England, and KF Egnatia in Albania. Before embarking on his professional career, he developed through the youth ranks of FC Zürich, featuring for the club’s Under-17, Under-18 and Under-21 teams.
Standing at 190cm, Arbenit joins Selangor FC after spending the past three seasons with KF Egnatia in the Albanian top flight, the Kategoria Superiore. As a key figure at the heart of the defence, he played an instrumental role in helping the club secure three consecutive league titles, as well as lifting the Albanian Cup and Albanian Super Cup. During his time with KF Egnatia, Arbenit made 124 appearances, including eight matches in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds and five in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
The 28-year-old chose to join Selangor FC after being convinced by the club’s vision and ambitions for the future.
“I’ve heard many good things about Selangor FC, a club with a proud history. My conversations with the club were the main reason I decided to come here.”
“I also know the head coach’s background in football. I’m excited to work with him and the coaching staff this season as we strive to achieve the targets that have been set.”
Arbenit also shared his excitement about embarking on this new chapter with the Red Giants and his hopes for the season ahead.

The arrival of the left-footed defender is expected to further strengthen Selangor FC’s backline as the club continues its pursuit of silverware in Malaysian football.
