Jun 03, 2026 - FASSelangor FC have gone through a very packed 2025/26 season with 51 matches across five main competitions, namely the Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup, ACL TWO and ACC Shopee Cup™?.
Overall, the Red Giants squad ended the season with 27 wins (16 Super League, three FA Cup, three Malaysia Cup and four ACC Shopee Cup™?), 10 draws and 14 defeats.
MALAYSIAN LEAGUE
Selangor FC completed the Malaysia League on 17 May against PDRM FC in the 2025/26 Super League campaign and finished the Malaysian Super League in third place with 52 points from 24 matches (16 wins, four draws and four losses).
Meanwhile, in the FA Cup, the Red and Yellow squad started dominantly with a 12-1 aggregate win against Malaysia University in the Round of 16. That momentum continued when they defeated Negeri Sembilan FC in the Quarter-Finals with a 6-3 aggregate. However, the journey ended in the Semi-Finals after a tough match against Sabah FC finished 3-3 on aggregate, with a 4-5 defeat on penalties.
In the Malaysia Cup campaign, the Red and Yellow squad defeated Kelantan The Real Warriors in the Round of 16 with a 5-1 aggregate score. They progressed to the Semi-Finals after overcoming Negeri Sembilan FC 6-1 on aggregate in the Quarter-Finals. However, the team narrowly lost 2-1 against Kuching City FC in the Semi-Finals.
INTERNATIONAL MATCHES
In international competitions, the Red Giants were drawn in Group G of the AFC Champions League TWO (ACL TWO) 2025/26 alongside Persib, Bangkok United FC and Lion City Sailors FC. Despite strong competition, the team only collected one point and finished bottom of the group.
In contrast, in the ACC Shopee Cup™? 2025/26, Selangor FC were drawn in Group A alongside Buriram United FC, BG Pathum United FC, Cong An Ha Noi FC, Tampines Rovers FC and Cebu FC. The team qualified for the knockout stage after finishing second in Group A with nine points shared with Buriram United FC; two wins and three draws.
The victory over Nam Dinh FC, the 2024/25 V.League 1 champions, with a 4-1 aggregate in the Semi-Finals was one of the most memorable moments of the season. However, the team had to accept defeat after losing to Buriram United FC with a 3-1 aggregate in the Final, thus ending the campaign as runners-up in the ACC Shopee Cup™? 2025/26.
OVERALL STATISTICS
The team went through two managerial changes this season, initially led by head coach Katsuhito Kinoshi, then Christophe Gamel who took charge on an interim basis, before Kim Pan-gon took full control for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
- Kim Pan-gon managed 23 matches: 15 wins, 5 draws and 3 losses.
- Christophe Gamel managed 18 matches: 7 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses.
- Katsuhito Kinoshi managed 10 matches: 5 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses.
Under Kim Pan-gon’s guidance, Selangor FC recorded an unbeaten run of 15 consecutive matches.
Overall, the squad under the three coaches scored 111 competitive goals with an average of 2 goals per match.
The top contributor of the 111 goals was prolific Red Giants striker Chrigor Moraes with 42 goals. He is the only player to have scored in all five competitions in the 2025/26 season. He also broke Bambang Pamungkas’ 19-year record for most goals in a single season. This was followed by Faisal Halim, the team captain, with 22 goals, and then Alvin Fortes with 13 goals. In addition, Nooa Laine and Kevin Deeromram shared four goals each. Mukhairi Ajmal, Izwan Yuslan and Zach Clough scored three goals each. Next, Zikri Khalili, Hugo Boumous, Noor Al-Rawabdeh, Quentin Cheng and Willian Lira scored two goals each. Finally, Syahir Bashah, Vitor Pernambuco, Mamadou Diarra, Harith Haiqal, Richmond Ankrah, Kim Ji-ho and Picha Autra each contributed one goal for the team.
Faisal Halim also topped the assist chart with 13 assists. Chrigor Moraes registered 11 assists. Alvin Fortes and Quentin Cheng recorded 10 assists each. Noor Al-Rawabdeh contributed six assists. Nooa Laine, Zikri Khalili and Hugo Boumous produced four assists each. Meanwhile, Izwan Yuslan, Mohammad Abualnadi, Omid Musawi and Zach Clough had three assists each. Syahir Bashah and Kevin Deeromram contributed two assists each. Safuwan Baharudin, Mukhairi Ajmal, Harith Haiqal, Mamadou Diarra, Kim Ji-ho, Jeon Seung-min, Sharul Nazeem and Picha Autra each provided one assist.
The team’s defence and goalkeepers have recorded a total of 17 clean sheets throughout the season; 11 in the Super League, two in the FA Cup, two in the Malaysia Cup, and two in the ACC Shopee Cup™. According to the data, Kalamullah Al-Hafiz holds the highest tally with 11 clean sheets. Meanwhile, Sikh Izhan has recorded six clean sheets since he began featuring for the team.
A total of 14 players recorded more than 1,500 minutes played, namely Chrigor Moraes 3,947 minutes, Nooa Laine 3,901 minutes, Faisal Halim 3,852 minutes, Quentin Cheng 3,397 minutes, Kalamullah Al-Hafiz 2,949 minutes, Noor Al-Rawabdeh 2,879 minutes, Mohammad Abualnadi 2,620 minutes, Alvin Fortes 2,574 minutes, Richmond Ankrah 2,184 minutes, Mamadou Diarra 2,141 minutes, Syahir Bashah 2,086 minutes, Harith Haiqal 1,988 minutes, Zikri Khalili 1,734 minutes and Safuwan Baharudin 1,575 minutes.
At the same time, four young players made their first appearances for the Red Giants, namely Raimi Shamsul (22 years old), Aiman Hakimi (20 years old) and Moses Raj (20 years old) in the first Round of 16 FA Cup match against Malaysian University. Meanwhile, Danish Iskandar (19 years old) made his debut in the 9th Super League match against Sabah FC.
In addition, three Red Giants players also reached 100 appearances for Selangor FC this season, Zikri Khalili, Safuwan Baharudin and Faisal Halim.
Among other interesting facts, four players were awarded Shopee Star Of The Match in seven out of nine matches in the ACC Shopee Cup™? 2025/26; Chrigor Moraes in 3 matches (#NAMSFC, #SFCNAM & SFCBGP), Faisal Halim in 2 matches (#SFCCHN & #SFCTRF), Omid Musawi in the match #SFCDHC and Hugo Boumous in the first Final match against Buriram United FC.
Overall, this season was full of learning and progress for the Red Giants squad. Although not all competitions ended with a victory, the team achieved several strong results such as being runners-up in the ACC Shopee Cup™, a top-three finish in the Super League, as well as visible development both collectively and individually.
The management of Selangor FC is proud of the fighting spirit shown by the players throughout the season. Not forgetting the coaching staff led by Kim Pan-gon and the team officials who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to facilitate training and match preparations.
