MATCH REVIEW: We Are In The Semis!

Coming from one-nil defeat in Ipoh last week, Selangor march into the semi-final with 3-2 aggregate after manage to defeat Perak, 3-1 in Shah Alam Stadium earlier tonight.

A brace from Khyril Muhymeen and a goal from Syazwan Zainon showed the defending champion the exit after a really entertaining match.

Since the first minute, the Red Giants played gallantly to find the opening goal.

B. Satiananthan attacking tactics paid off after Syazwan Zainon manage to find an ice-cool opener in the 33rd minute.

Syazwan, who was not marked, tap the ball easily after receiving a good header from Khyril Muhymeen.

Selangor doubled the lead in the 45th minute when Khyril Muhymeen converted chances provided by Ifedayo Olusegun.

As the second half continues, the visitor tried to minimize the goal deficit and managed to register a few shots on targets but was denied by amazing saves from Khairulazhan Khalid.

It was indeed the Khyril Muhymeen show as he doubled his goals in the 67th minute, making Selangor lead by three-nil.

Perak, however, managed to get their consolation goal when Brendan Gan hit a freak shot just outside of the penalty box that defeated Khairulazhan in the 83rd minute.

The 3-1 score stayed till the final whistle, confirming Selangor will go to the semi-final against the Liga Super champion, Johor Darul Takzim next month.

Selain itu, turut diadakan sesi bertafakur selama seminit bagi memberi penghormatan ke atas Almarhum Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra dan juga mendiang Datuk M. Chandran sebelum perlawanan bermula.

Other than that, there was a minute of silence in the stadium being done as a sign of respect to the passing of Almarhum Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra and Datuk M. Chandran before the match start.

DYTM Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah also stated that the passing of Datuk M.Chandran is a big loss for the football community in Malaysia.

“He had a great career and used to be one of Selangor coaches, apart from being the captain of the national team during the Munich 1972 Olympic Games."

“As for FA Selangor, I would like to send my condolences to Datuk M.Chandran families and friends,” said Tunku Amir Shah.
