MATCH REVIEW: Selangor & PJ City FC Share Points At UITM Stadium


The CIMB Super League 2020 match between the Selangor team and PJ City FC ended with a goalless result.

Selangor started fiercely in the first half by constantly pushing The Phoenix's defense and almost managed to break the deadlock in the 34th minute through a free-kick by Sandro Da Silva, but the Brazilian's attempt only stopped at the opposing team's crossbar.

Several accurate attempts were successfully released by midfielders Brendan Gan and Sandro Da Silva at the end of the first half, but their attempts were saved by PJ City FC goalkeeper Kalamullah Alhafiz.

Head Coach, B. Sathianathan made two changes in the 63rd minute by including Wan Zack Haikal and Ifedayo Olesegun to replace Rufino Segovia and Syazwan Zainon to increase the Selangor team's attacking machinery.

Wan Zack Haikal who had just recovered from a long injury almost put the Selangor team ahead in the 83rd minute but his free-kick wide.

3 more substitutions were made towards the end of the second half with K. Prabakaran, Halim Saari, and Syahmi Safari replaced by Azrin Afiq, Anwar Ibrahim, and K.Sarkunan.

Selangor clearly dominated the game but luck was not on their side as PJ City defended until the final whistle sounded making the full result 0-0.

"We have more control of the ball than the opponent, we have the opportunity but we do not take the opportunity", said the Selangor head coach.

The result of this draw gave Selangor one point and placed them in 8th place in the league, 7 points behind the league leaders, Johor Darul Ta’zim.

The Selangor squad will fly to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to face the “Land Below the Wind” squad at the Likas Stadium on 3 September 2020.
