The Malaysian football competition for season 2020 has officially ended after the announcement of Malaysia Cup cancellation was confirmed by Malaysia Football League (MFL) on 12 November.

After the season ended, Selangor management has decided to retain 15 players to continue the challenge for 2021 campaign.

The 15 players include 13 local players such as Brendan Gan, Syahmi Safari, Halim Saari, Khairulazhan Khalid, Wan Zack Haikal, Tauffiq Ar-Rashid, Namathevan Arunasalam, Ashmawi Yakin, Sean Selvaraj, Mukahiri Ajmal, Sarkunan Krishnansamy, and Rodney Celvin.

As for the import line-up, Selangor confirmed that sensational striker from Nigeria, Ifedayo Olusegun will stay for next season, as well as the Singaporean, Safuwan Baharudin to fill the ASEAN player quota.

On the other hand, another Selangor import player, Sandro da Silva's position for next season is still in discussion and has not yet been decided.

It is normal in football industry that there are players who were released and will not be with the team for next season.

Selangor will miss some of the players who have helped the Red Yellow team this season. The club would like to thank and wish the best to the team captain, Taylor Regan, Syazwan Zainon, Khyril Muhymeen, Farizal Harun, Nicholas Swirad, Prabakaran Kanadasan, Zahril Zabri, and Anwar Ibrahim for their service towards the years in Selangor colors.

Speaking to FA Selangor media, Syazwan Zainon shared the following remarks:

"I want to say a big thank you to the club owner, DYTM Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, the management, the coaching staff, my fellow teammates, and everyone who helped me a lot throughout my two seasons here."

"I hope if we will meet again in the future. Doesn't matter as an ally or foe, keep supporting Selangor."

Fans of the Red Giants also saw the winner of the 2018 Golden Boot Award, Rufino Segovia released by the Selangor team after four memorable seasons with the team and was once an important figure who brought Selangor to the final of the 2018 FA Cup.

"I say goodbye to all of you. The last four seasons were the best of my life, the best fans I could dream of, a club and fans who gave me everything, and I gave my all for them. Today is a very sad day for me, but I am grateful for my whole life to have been able to play for FA Selangor," said Rufino on his personal Instagram account.

"I hope to come back one day as a coach. I will always love you and I will always remember you," he added.

Selangor 2 players who have made their debut in the Malaysia Cup this season such as Aliff Haiqal Lau, Zikri Khalili, and Danial Asri will be promoted into the Selangor main team next season.

Apart from that, Selangor 2 center-back and team captain, Sharul Nazeem and young goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Nazrel are also listed to don the Red Giants' main team jersey next season.
