KNOW ME BETTER: Ahmad Danial Asri

Ahmad Danial Ahmad Asri (Danial Asri) or more affectionately known as Chang in the team, is the prolific young striker of Selangor 2 who has been promoted to the main team of the Red Giants season 2021.

Chang began to get involved in the world of football at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato 'Harun. Among the successes he has played before are the 2017 SuperMokh Cup, MSSM U15 runner-up, and 3rd place of MSSM U17.

As he finished school, the young lad who idolized Amri Yahyah began his football journey by playing for the Selangor Youth team after successfully capturing the hearts of the coaches during the election session at the end of 2017.

He has also been a key player and captain of the Selangor Youth team and made a total of 42 appearances from 2018 to 2019.

Among other successes in 2018 is that he won the Contribution Cup and became the champion of the Division 1 League of the IPT Football League while representing UiTM Shah Alam.

Chang's professional career began when he was called by Selangor 2 team head coach Michael Feichtenbeiner after scoring two goals during a friendly match against Geylang International FC.

He also played in all matches for the 2020 season with Selangor 2 and was awarded as the Local Top Scorer in the Premier League with seven goals.

"I would like to dedicate my appreciation to all the coaches, teammates in Selangor who helped me to win this award and also I want to thank all my family, friends and fans who always supported me, thank you for all of you," said Chang after receiving the award during the Anugerah Bolasepak Kebangsaan 2020.

2020 continues to be an excellent year for Chang when he makes his debut with the Selangor main team in the Piala Malaysia against Melaka United.

"I don't see competing with senior players as a burden and only think positive to improve myself for the good of myself and the team. I also want to gain knowledge from the coaches and senior players who are more experienced in the football industry. I want to give them a healthy competition,” explained Chang after being announced as a player for the Selangor main squad for the upcoming 2021 season.

Chang also aspires to play with the Harimau Malaya senior team and play abroad one day.

Selangor FC wishes Chang success for the 2021 season with the Selangor main team and may he continue to show excellent action in the Malaysian football scene.

Best of luck, Chang!
