Red Giants Remain Careful Of The Panthers

After returning from Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in the middle of this week, Selangor continues to make preparations in hosting Penang FC at the MBPJ Stadium tonight.

With one win, one loss and two draws from the last four matches, Karsten Neitzel's squad is determined to clinch a win over The Black Panthers in order to secure a better spot in the 2021 Super League chart.

For the record, the last clash between the two sides was back in the 2017 Super League with a 3-1 victory for Selangor following a goal from Andik Vermansah and a brace from Rufino Segovia at the Stadium Negeri, Batu Kawan.

The result against the defending champions of the league, JDT in the previous match was deemed as a necessary motivation for the Red and yellow squad before facing the Premier League winner last year.

"We need to carry these vibes to continue the fight. All the players are in good motivation and this will definitely help me and the coaching staff continue the preparations for the next game," said Karsten.

"As you know, with few players taken off during last match due to some knocks, I will see if they are fit to play for tonight. But, I am confident with the line-up that I will list down for this match (against Penang FC)."

When asked about which Penang FC players to pay close attention to, Karsten gave the following remarks:

"Penang FC has a prolific striker like Casagrande and we have to be careful with players like him. Above all, we will play our best to grab the last three points before the league takes a break."

For the record, this 5th league match is the last match of the month before the league stopped for a while to make way for the national squad call-ups before it resumes on April 2nd.

For injury updates, four Red Giants players could not be listed for tonight’s match such as Nik Sharif Haseefy (ankle injury), K. Sarkunan (knee spasm), R. Dinesh (left hamstring), and Halim Saari (cruciate ligament).

Selangor, who is currently ranked 5th place with 5 points, is only separated with only 1 goal difference with the same number of points as Penang FC who sits at 7th spot in the league.

Hopefully, the Selangor FC will continue to give positive results and get all the 3 points in tonight's match.
