KNOW ME BETTER: Fazrul Fahriz Zeky

Muhammad Fazrul Fahriz Zeky or more affectionately known as Fazrul is one of the three players of the Selangor FC 2 team who is a left-footer.

Fazrul, who will turn 23 in September this year, is one of the Red Giants development players who started playing with the Youth team, before making his way through the President's team and now plays in the Premier League with Selangor FC 2.

He started playing football seriously in 2009 with the MBSA Kids Soccer Academy until 2011 for the Sultan Ahmad Shah Cup under the guidance of the late Anuar Abu Bakar, who was one of the Red Giants legends in the past.

In 2012, he bagged 14 goals with the PKNS academy team and emerged as the second-highest scorer in the 1 Malaysia Cardiff City tournament organized by FAM.

Fazrul's achievement at that time has become a ticket for him to represent the Petaling Perdana district in the MSS Selangor Football Championship 2013 where he scored 3 goals for them.

The pacey left-winger then attended the selection of the Selangor Youth team and managed to catch the attention of the then head coach to represent the Selangor B Youth team, which played in the Selangor League throughout 2014.

The following year, he was listed for the Selangor Youth team in the Youth Cup organized by FAM and was one of the key players of the team that led the team to the championship trophy for 2015.

After two years with the Selangor Youth team, he then played for the Selangor President's team for three years and has scored 8 goals, and has helped his team to clinch the President's Cup in 2017.

Fazrul also represented Malaysia for the 2019 Asian University Football Championship in Taipei, Taiwan with the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) team.

His football career continued to flourish when he was selected to join the Selangor FC 2 team after showing his ability during a three-sided match held at the end of 2019.

During his first year with Selangor 2, he played 8 matches (394 minutes) and scored one goal against Kuching City FC, and also had an assist in the 2020 Premier League.

The player who wore the number 9 jersey has also scored his first goal this year against Kelantan FC in Kota Bharu and set a target to score at least 5 goals before the season ends.

Speaking of his football career journey, he admitted that it was not smooth sailing and hopes he will not stop until he reaches the end of the road.

"It is not an easy way to get to this level. I will not give up quickly in the dream of competing at a higher level like playing in the Super League and earn national call-ups," Fazrul explained.

"I am convinced that playing in the Premier League is the right way to develop my style of play, prove what I can really do as a winger."

"The opportunity to play with the Selangor main team is hard to come by but it is the dream of all young players here. If I am given the chance, I will not waste it," Fazrul commented on his childhood dream.

Selangor FC wishes Fazrul success for the 2021 season with the Selangor FC 2 team. May he continue to show excellent performances in the Malaysian football scene. Good luck, Fazrul!
