After suffering a right fibula fracture injury more than a month ago, this week is the final week Shahrel Fikri will be wearing orthopedic shoes used to protect and support his feet.

For the record, Shahrel has suffered a serious injury after he came on as a substitute in the second half and managed to play for about 10 minutes in the Super League match against Sri Pahang FC on 5 May.

Once he was brought out from the play, Shahrel was taken to the nearest hospital for an x-ray examination and then sent to Ara Damansara for surgery after being confirmed to have a fractured right fibula.

According to Helber Richard, Selangor FC's main team physiotherapist, Shahrel has given a good commitment throughout the recovery session and he now no longer needs the help of orthopedic shoes to walk.

"We have planned a rehabilitation program for Shahrel for four to five months. So far he is going well with the help of team doctors like Dr. Vijayan who constantly monitors his progress, Coach Khairulanwar (fitness coach) who takes care of his fitness, and Ms. Puteri (team nutritionist) who supervising his diet and nutrition throughout his recovery session," explained Helber about the Selangor FC striker's recovery plan.

“He has undergone a recovery session of about 5 weeks and made an excellent commitment to recovering,” he added.

"Recently, Shahrel no longer uses orthopedic shoes during his recovery process for some activities at the gym. This Friday will be the last day he uses them as well as he can start driving as usual," said Helber who was clearly delighted with Shahrel's latest development.

Before ending the conversation, Helber expressed his hope that Shahrel continues to have a good recovery session, always listens to the advice given, and is confident he will be back on the field in the next four to five months.
