KNOW ME BETTER: K. Sarkunan

Sarkunan Krishnasamy, 25, is one of the Selangor senior players who has been with the Red Giants since 2013.

The Kajang born lad started his football career with the Selangor Youth team in 2013, then was inducted into the Selangor President's team before being promoted into the Red Giants main team in December 2016.

For the record, Sarkunan is one of Selangor's development players who managed to gain the trust of the head coaches to be the team captain because of his leadership with the youth team, the President squad and the Red Giants’ senior squad.

Every young player wants to play with the club's senior team, including Sarkunan. The dedication shown by the tenacious midfielder has opened the opportunity for him to make his first appearance with the Red Giants senior squad on 28 October 2017 as a substitute in the match against Penang which saw Selangor overcome The Black Panthers with a result of 3-1.

The following year, Sarkunan continued to gain the trust of the head coach of the Selangor first team to play in the Super League after being seen as one of the promising young players who has given new energy to the Selangor team's midfield.

To date, Sarkunan has made 49 appearances and scored 1 goal in the Red Giants shirt, in addition to protecting the back four in defence as well as orchestrating the attacks.

Often associated with Chelsea’s midfielder, N'golo Kante by the fans, Sarkunan has a high work rate on the field and often closes the space of opponents as well as having ball control techniques that are able to hold the ball in creating a play.

Sara, who always gives one hundred percent during training and in every competitive match, wants to continue to serve and wants to reciprocate the trust of the head coach at every opportunity given.

Selangor FC wishes Sarkunan success for this season with the main team of the Red Giants in the TM Piala Malaysia 2021 competition. Hopefully, Sara will continue to show an excellent performance in the Malaysian football scene. Good luck, Sara!

Demi kebanggaan.
