Preseason And The Club Progress Under The 2nd Year Of Selangor FC DNA

Selangor FC is continuously working hard as the team undergoes preseason training in the last weeks before Malaysian Super League kicks off this season in early March.

Michael Feichtenbeiner, Head Coach of Selangor FC is thankful that this first season of him officially taking responsibility to handle the first team had been given more time to conduct preseason sessions with his players.

"Coaches and players get enough time to prepare before the league starts. The team have more time together for local players and the new imports to adapt well and build good relationships with other teammates," he said.

"Latest addition of players to the squad this year such as Samuel Somerville, Fazly Mazlan, Zahril Zabri, Syahir Bashah, Yazan Al-Arab, Baha 'Abdelrahman, Herlison Caion and Hyuri Henrique has shown good competition throughout the training sessions we conducted," he said.

"Everything is right on track for the team preparation but this month is a bit different as four of our young players in the first team are representing the country right now for AFF U-23. We had to change some plans in order to let them go but everything is under control,"

When asked about overall progress of the club, Michael adds, "The Selangor FC DNA which we aim to provide and produce young talent to play on a higher stage has also seen its progress, especially when young players are seen to be able to bring positive impact to the team not only at club level but also national."

"This is the second year where Selangor FC implementing the system across all Red Giants football pyramid from youth setup up to the first team. This connection and understanding from the players is important because it will allow a better transition for them to be promoted and continuously growing and playing at a higher level," he said.

"We can see the progress and result when some of the players promoted to the first team showed some good improvement at senior level and they got called up to play with the national senior team as well," he said.

"This also creates good balance and great atmosphere in the team with the mixture of experience between senior players and talent of young players in the team. We understand that the development will take time because what we are trying to build here is for the long term, for the future of Selangor FC. But, winning has always been a priority to us and this will be our aim."
