FA Cup Match Review : Selangor FC vs Harini FT

Selangor FC dominated their home with a 6-0 victory against Harini FT yesterday in the 2022 FA Cup at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya.

Despite playing against an M3 team, these are some of the highlights from yesterday’s match that are among the notable improvements by the team and the players individually that we can build on for the upcoming match.

1. Herlison Caion's first hat-trick for Selangor FC this season!

  • Caion scored his first goal in the 2022 FA Cup by heading in a good out-swinging delivery from the corner by Mukhairi Ajmal in the 17th minute of the match.

  • His next two goals on the other hand, were from the combination play of our new 'Brazillian Duo', Hyuri Henrique, who linked up well with and made good passes to Caion who finished it off in the 63rd and 66th minutes.

  • The Red Giants striker not only scored in this match, but he also helped Hyuri score his first FA Cup goal in the 28th minute.

2. Big win as well as the team's first Clean Sheet record this season in the 2022 Malaysia League

A balanced combination of senior and young players has achieved this big victory with 6 goals which right now record the most goals for the team as well as the FA Cup competition so far.

According to Head Coach Michael Feichtenbeiner "This match is also the best opportunity for us to give exposure to some of the young players in the team. This combination of senior and young players can improve the compatibility of the players in our team. I am satisfied with the overall performance and they play like which I expected "

In addition, this is also the team's first Clean Sheet featuring the debut of the Red Giants' new goalkeeper, Samuel Somerville.

3. Personal record of the young players of Selangor FC in yesterday's match

  • The first FA Cup match for Sharul Nazeem (23 years old), Quentin Cheng (23 years old), Danial Asri (22 years old), Mukhairi Ajmal (21 years old), Syahir Bashah (21 years old) and Azrin Afiq (20 years old).

  • Mukhairi Ajmal's two accurate passes ended with the first goal for Caion and Selangor's 270th goal in this competition by the team’s captain, Safuwan Baharudin.

  • Syahir Bashah's first senior goal was scored in the 46th minute by a good pass from the young left defender, Azrin Afiq who also made his first assist of the season.

  • The appearance of Alif Izwan, the youngest player in the team of Selangor FC yesterday that was sub in the minute 61s. He just signed a contract with the club this year and played with confidence with the senior team yesterday.

Selangor FC is proud of this achievement and hopes for continuous success and more milestones to keep coming like this until the end of the season. Congratulations Red Giants!
