LS4 Match Review : Selangor FC vs Kedah Darul Aman FC

Selangor FC received a major boost in confidence last Sunday against Kedah Darul Aman FC after overcoming their opponents in the 2022 Super League match with a sweet 4-1 victory and will be looking to build on from here to climb the standings.

Let’s take a look at some of the positive things that can be taken away from this first win.

1. Good link up between the midfielders and forwards

In the #SFCKDA match, the team’s midfield trio, Baha' Abdelrahman, Alexander Agyarkwa and Mukhairi Ajmal formed a great understanding between them and managed to carry out their respective duties well, in both defending and attacking.

In addition, the venomous trio upfront, Herlison Caion, Shahrel Fikri and Hein Htet Aung made multiple efforts on goal that night, with Shahrel and Hein unlucky not to convert their chances. Their movements were sharp and deadly side by side posing a threat every time they launched their attack. The return of Hein Htet Aung in attack has added another dimension as he did well in linking up with his teammates.

According to Selangor FC Head Coach, Michael Feichtenbeiner, his players performed very well.

"I'm happy with my team because they created a lot of chances and we were actually able to kill the game early but overall I'm happy with their performance."

"As I always emphasize, we did apply an attacking style of play within the team and as proof we have already scored nine goals in three league games," he said.

Not forgetting the defensive line, they should also be praised for having defended well throughout the match despite conceding a late goal.

2. Personal record of Selangor FC players in this match

Mukhairi Ajmal became the first scorer of the match and opened his scoring account for the season in the 26th minute.

The 26th minute goal would not have happened without Alex Agyarkwa who also registered his first assist of the season after some good build up play.

Herlison Caion has shown his value as a striker by scoring two goals as well as one assist in this match. So far he has scored five goals in three games.

Caion's first goal happened after Shahrel Fikri chested the ball right into Caion’s path. It was also Shahrel's first assist of the season in the Super League.

Norhakim Hassan proved his hard work paid off when he came on as a substitute, who managed to score a goal in the 84th minute and produced an assist three minutes later to his teammate.

3. Selangor FC goalkeeper’s performance warranted praise

All the players played very well including goalkeeper Khairulazhan Khalid who made four saves out of the opponents' five attempts on goal with three attempts being outside the penalty box and two attempts in the box. This means he saved 80 percent of the opponents attempt on goal.

4. The sacrifice and dedication of Safuwan Baharudin

The captain of the team entered the match with his condition having just recovered from an injury he sustained while playing against Negeri Sembilan FC last week. In addition, he was almost replaced in the 64th minute after a severe collision involving his leg but he re-entered the field as he wanted to continue playing till the end. His leadership has also to some extent helped the team perform well.

Selangor FC is very proud of the team's achievements and hopes this good momentum will continue until the end of the season. Congratulations Red Giants!
