2022 Super League Campaign Review | A Campaign That is Full Of Challenge And Hardship


A campaign that is full of challenge and hardship, the 2022 Super League season officially ended with the final match against the Penang FC team last October 15.

Several important records were recorded by the team during this competition. This is the perfect time to look back on all the achievements in the 2022 Super League season.

Overall, Selangor FC finished the 2022 Super League campaign in fifth place with 30 points from eight wins, six draws, and eight defeats in 22 matches. In addition, in total eight victories, five of them the team managed to win without conceding.

This season, the Red Giants first team won five games at home and three wins on away ground and lost in only three games at home and five meetings away.

From 22 games in the Super League, Herlison Caion has played in all meetings with 1962 minutes played. Then closely followed by a young promising player, Mukhairi Ajmal who managed to reach his 50th appearance in the last match against Penang FC at 1810 minutes. Next, three defenders topped the list of the five most played this season, namely Quentin Cheng with 1734 minutes, Yazan Al-Arab with 1672 minutes, and Sharul Nazeem with 1667 minutes. In addition, the team has scored 39 goals with an average of 1.77 goals per game and conceded 33. The team's longest winning streak is three, while the longest unbeaten streak is in four meetings.

This season, Selangor FC has become the second-highest-scoring team in the 2022 Super League with 39 goals. Herlison Caion became the top scorer for the Red Giants with 14 goals, then Norhakim Hassan and Brendan Gan scored five goals followed closely by Mukhairi Ajmal and Hein Htet Aung, the two young pillars of the team with three goals. Although the number of misses is not something to talk about, our defensive lines have recorded more than 50% of 'aerial duels' in every match throughout the competition. In terms of individuals, Sharul Nazeem managed to win 67% 'tackles won' out of 147 total tackles made. Meanwhile, Quentin Cheng, Fazly Mazlan, and Yazan Al-Arab won 66% of their tackles.
