Match Review PM QF1: Selangor FC vs Negeri Sembilan FC | Selangor FC Bring 2-Goal Advantage to Paroi

Selangor FC Bring 2-Goal Advantage to Paroi

Selangor FC displayed an energetic performance after defeating their rivals Negeri Sembilan 2-0 in the first Quarter-Final match of the TM Malaysia Cup 2022 thanks to goals from Herlison Caion and Aliff Haiqal at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, last Sunday night.

Playing in front of thousands of home fans, the Giants started fiercely by launching an early attack through Hein Htet Aung's attempt in the second minute, but Negeri Sembilan's goalkeeper, Ahmad Syihan Hazmi was quick to deny the effort.

The Myanmar born continued to be an attacking threat with his fast running on the right wing as he succeeded in making a beautiful low driven cross to beat Syihan in the 16th minute of the match but striker Herlison Caion failed to make the finishing touch even though the goal was already wide open.

10 minutes later, Mukhairi Ajmal cleverly found Hein Htet Aung who once again made a run on the right wing before successfully making a cross into the opponent's penalty area, but Herlison Caion's deflected header hit the bar.

Tied scoreless in the first half, Selangor continued to press the Jang's defensive line which eventually resulted in Sharul Nazeem being brought down in the penalty box in the 54th minute by Negeri Sembilan's import player, Herold Goulon who was also sent off in the process.

Although the atmosphere in the stadium was a little tense after the incident, Herlison Caion calmly slotted in the penalty kick to put the home team ahead in the 56th minute.

Several changes were made by the Head Coach, Tan Cheng Hoe and was consequently paid off when the substitute player, Aliff Haiqal Lau managed to fire a low-driven shot with his left foot to beat Syihan Hazmi in the 92nd minute of the game to ensure we win 2-0.

Tan Cheng Hoe was clearly satisfied with the performance of his players but reminded the players to remain focused for the second leg match in Paroi, next Saturday.

"Even though we missed a few chances, overall I am satisfied with the performance of the players tonight, but the players need to stay focused because we will play for another 90 minutes in Paroi next week", he said.
