Feb 15, 2023 - FASYohandry José Orozco Cuja, better known as Orozco, a Venezuelan midfielder, was officially announced today as the Red Giants' final import player to compete in the 2023 Malaysian League.
Born in 1991, he began his professional career with Maracaibo when he was 16 years old. His most recent club was Deportes Tolima, where he appeared 114 times and contributed 12 goals and 18 assists in two seasons.
Among his achievements, Orozco lifted his first cup with Deportivo Táchira winning the Primera Division in the 2014/2015 season. He won two cups with the New York Cosmos in the NASL Regular Season and the NASL Soccer Bowl in 2015/2016. Following that, he won the Primera A title with Deportes Tolima in 2018, 2019, and 2021.
Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, believes Orozco has the skills and strengths that will help stabilise the team this season.
"The team now seems to need a team general. I hope Orozco can dictate our game pattern and be able to stabilize the team's attack with wherever we are lacking,"
Orozco's advantage is that he has excellent ball control and at the same time is able to help his teammates to score goals. In addition, he is also able to help with set pieces as well, which is an advantage I hope will be seen on the field later," he added.
Orozco is the seventh and last recruit to be introduced to the first team after Selangor FC introduced Ruventhiran, Khuzaimi Piee, Faisal Halim, Noor Al-Rawabdeh, Rauf Salifu and Ayron Del Valle previously.
Let’s fight together, Orozco!
