Selangor FC began Super League 2023 action with a 1-0 victory over Kelantan United FC at MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya yesterday.

In the 40th minute of yesterday's match, Yazan Al-Arab headed straight into the corner of the goal from Faisal Halim's corner kick. Furthermore, the Red Giants dominated the game with 68% ball possession, 84% pass accuracy, 18 attempts, and 12 corner kicks, according to the statistics.

#SELKLU witnessed the Red Giants squad's first official match in the Malaysia League 2023. Head Coach Tan Cheng Hoe saw many positives despite the fact that the team is still trying to find its match rhythm.

"As a coach, I'm pleased with the three points we earned. It's a difficult match because the players are still working on developing chemistry and understanding.

Furthermore, our import players, such as Ayron Del Valle and Yohandry Orozco, are still adjusting to the team. Individually, I see that they gave it their all in yesterday's #SELKLU action. "I see a positive outcome for us to continue focusing on the next match," Tan Cheng Hoe said.

Some key highlights from yesterday's #SELKLU match can be seen below :

1. Debut of Selangor FC's new players for the 2023 season

Faisal Halim, winger, and three new import players, Noor Al-Rawabdeh, Ayron Del Valle, and Yohandry Ororzco, made their Super League 2023 debuts with the Red Giants. In yesterday's #SELKLU match, these four players served as the team's starting eleven.

Despite the fact that the team's import players are still adjusting, their presence in the first half inspired the team to make push after push throughout the match.

Furthermore, Faisal Halim has opened his goal assist account this season after producing a precise corner kick to Yazan Al-Arab and scoring a goal.

2. The first goal of the 2023 Yazan Al-Arab season

The import defensive player, who has been with the team since last season, scored his first goal in yesterday's #SELKLU match. For the record, he has four Selangor FC goals, two of which were set piece headers.

3. Khairulazhan Khalid's 29th cleansheet

Khairulazhan Khalid, Selangor FC's main goalkeeper, has gone 29 games without conceding since his first year with the Red Giants. Starting as the third goalkeeper in the 2016 season, he performed admirably after saving the goal with three crucial saves in yesterday's #SELKLU match.

4. Tan Cheng Hoe continues to maintain an unbeaten record

Tan Cheng Hoe's unbeaten run since taking over the team has now reached nine games, with five of those coming in the Super League.

However, yesterday's victory would not have been complete without the enthusiastic support of the 6,701 Red Giants fans who packed the MBPJ Stadium. Thank you very much, Red Giants.

Selangor FC is hoping that the team will start to gel and earn three points in their next match. Please, Red Giant!
