Match Review LS2 | Kuching City FC 0-5 Selangor FC | A Memorable Night in Kuching As The Red Giants Win Big

Selangor FC earned three more valuable points in the 2023 Super League after defeating Kuching City FC 5-0 at the Sarawak State Stadium yesterday.

Yesterday's 5-0 victory was the most goals scored in the 2023 Super League so far, with 60% ball possession, 86% pass accuracy, 17 attempts, and 8 corners. In addition, Selangor FC has not lost in the Sarawak State Stadium since 2012.

Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, believes the teamwork shown by the players in the #KUCSEL match helped the Red Giants earn the win.

"Overall, the players demonstrated good tactical discipline. When attacking, the players were in the right position to score. Similarly, when defending, we were able to absorb the opposing team's attacks.

“In terms of team work, every player involved during the match as the starting eleven as well as the players coming off from the bench demonstrated a high level of commitment in the #KUCSEL match," praised Tan Cheng Hoe.

From yesterday's #KUCSEL match, some important things can be seen, such as:-

  1. Selangor FC's team captain and young import player made their 50th appearances

Brendan Gan joined the Red Giants in 2020, and the club captain was unable to participate for half of the 2021 season due to cancer. However he has recovered and returned to action at the beginning of the 2022 season. Yesterday's #KUCSEL encounter was his 50th appearance since returning to action. Brendan also registered a goal and an assist yesterday.

In addition, Hein Htet Aung, the young import player who is a fan-favourite among the Merah Kuning supporters, made his 50th appearance yesterday and has been a regular player for Selangor FC after being promoted from Selangor FC 2. In the fourth minute of the game, he also assisted Noor Al-Rawabdeh's first goal. This is also his 12th assist for the Red Giants.

  1. The first goal for our two new Selangor FC players

Two new Red Giants imports for the 2023 season scored the first three goals for #KUCSEL. Midfielder Noor Al-Rawabdeh scored twice in the fourth and 48th minute, while Ayron Del Valle opened his scoring account with the club in the 9th minute.

  1. The young Red Giant’s striker continued his good record against Kuching City FC

Danial Asri has scored in each of the last three games against Kuching City FC. Danial scored two goals at home and one goal on the road in the Malaysia Cup 2021 Group B round. In total, four goals have been scored against Kuching City FC, including his goal in the 73rd minute yesterday.

  1. Faisal Halim recorded more assists

Despite only joining the squad this season, the agile Faisal Halim's quickness is proving to be quite a threat to opposition as he continues to assist his teammates scoring goals. He's had three assists in two straight games so far. He once stated that while he has a strong desire to score goals, he does not mind not scoring as long as he contributes in any way like giving assists to his teammates.

The excitement and energy from the Red Giants supporters yesterday was amazing. Selangor FC would like to thank the fans who were willing to fly watch the team for the #KUCSEL match yesterday.

Selangor FC hopes that the team will continue this good momentum for the next match against Sri Pahang FC at the MBPJ Stadium on March 5. Come on Red Giants!
