Mar 06, 2023 - FASSelangor FC added a point in the third match of Super League 2023 after a 1-1 draw against Sri Pahang FC at the MBPJ Stadium yesterday.
Yesterday's match stats saw 68% ball possession, 80% pass accuracy, 11 attempts and 15 corners. One goal yesterday was from a corner kick from Yohandry Orozco and finished by the team captain, Brendan Gan in the 88th minute of the match.
According to Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, the team controlled the match well even though the match ended with a 1-1 result.
"As a coach, I think credit should go to the players because they gave full commitment in training and that's why we got a good record so far. If we look at it as a whole, we still made a lot of attempts and controlled the game well.
However, there is much that we need to improve, especially individual mistakes. I am confident with the quality of the existing players, we will improve and perform better from time to time. For now, we will continue to focus on the next match," assured Tan Cheng Hoe.
From yesterday's #SELSRP match, some important things can be seen, such as:-
Selangor FC defender's 50th appearance
Sharul Nazeem, better known as Afro, is a Selangor FC development player who has played with Selangor FC 2, Selangor President and Selangor Youth before being promoted to the Red Giants main squad in 2021. The 7th Super League match of the season was his debut match. Since that day, he managed to perform consistently until he reached his 50th appearance yesterday.
Khairulazhan was selected as the best player of the match
The main goalkeeper, Khairulazhan Khalid has performed well throughout the three matches with two clean sheets. He once again showed his quality after saving two dangerous attempts from Kpah Sherman's header and Stefano Brundo's penalty kick in yesterday's match. Therefore, the Malaysian Football League (MFL) has chosen him as the Player of the Match.
Yohandry Orozco is back to add sting with the team
Selangor FC's new import player, Yohandry Orozco is back in action with the team after suffering a minor injury in Selangor's first match against Kelantan United. He is looking forward to playing with his teammates once he is fully recovered before yesterday's game. Orozco was introduced in the second half of the match in the 62nd minute and his first 'assist' came after making a corner kick straight to Brendan Gan for the team's only goal in this match.
Selangor FC would like to thank the 8,504 supporters who came to the MBPJ Stadium to cheer on the #SELSRP match yesterday despite having to face the scorching heat and heavy rain for 90 minutes with the team.
Selangor FC is fully behind the team for their next match against Penang FC on March 12. Good luck Red Giants!
