Match Review FA R16 | Selangor FC vs Sri Pahang FC | Gergasi Merah Berjaya Melangkah ke Suku AKhir

Selangor FC defeated Sri Pahang FC 4-0 at MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya yesterday to advance to the FA Cup 2023 Quarter Finals.

The game had 18 attempts, 10 On Target efforts, and 6 corner kicks. All four goals in this game were scored by locals. Mukhairi Ajmal scored the first two goals in the 40th and 58th minutes, Faisal Halim scored the third goal in the 67th minute, and Brendan Gan scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute.

Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, believes the club deserved to win yesterday based on the manner in which they played.

"As soon as the game began, the players demonstrated excellent "tactical discipline." This triumph is the consequence of focus and teamwork in a strong squad that scored four goals. I'm hoping the team can keep playing like they did last night "Tan Cheng Hoe was applauded.

From the #SELSRP match in the FA Cup Round 16 yesterday, some important things can be seen, such as:-

Mukhairi Ajmal roars!

This season, the 22-year-old with a lot of talent has continued to impress. He had two goals, one in the 40th minute with a shot from outside the box, which is one of his strengths, and another in the 58th minute. Mukhairi is a young Red Giants player who had a successful season last year and was named the 2022 season's top goal scorer.

The team captain ensured the team qualified for the FA Cup Quarter Finals

Brendan Gan scored a fantastic goal in the 72nd minute after receiving a ball from Yohandry Orozco.

Brilliant performance by Orozco

Yohandry Orozco, the Red Giants' latest import player, appears to be getting along better with the club. His precision passes greatly assist the squad in launching assaults and scoring goals. On the record, he has three assists with the Merah Kuning squad so far.

An interesting pairing of Defense machinery

The defence line has been outstanding in stopping attacks from the Sri Pahang team. In the first half, the two centre backs, Yazan Al-Arab and Harith Haiqal, who made his maiden appearance in the starting eleven this season, played wonderfully to break down Kpah Sherman's attack. Also, Quentin Cheng and Khuzaimi Piee have performed admirably on the right and left flanks of the defence. Also, Zikri Khalili, and Ruventhiran came in in the second half to replace Harith Haiqal and Khuzaimi Piee, who were injured during the game.

Khairulazhan add his 'Cleansheet' record

Khairulazhan continued his strong play by recording his 32nd 'Cleansheet' and preventing the Red Giants from conceding for the fourth time this season.

But, credit must be given to all of the players who contributed to #SELSRP yesterday was one of Selangor's best matches to date.

Not to mention the Red Giants fans who came out to support the squad at yesterday's game. We remain appreciative.

Hopefully, the team can continue to perform well in the next game. Bring on my Red Yellow!

Demi Kebanggaan!
