Match Review LS10 | Sabah FC 2-1 Selangor FC | On To The Next One

Luck was not on the side of Selangor FC during last night's 2023 Super League match against Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, as we went home with a 1-2 defeat to The Rhinos.

The match stats saw the Red Giants having 57% of ball possession, 76% pass accuracy, 11 attempts on goal and 8 corner kicks. The only goal for the Red Giants was scored by Faisal Halim in the 57th minute of the match.

Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, felt that the team had performed well but small mistakes let the team down.

"I think this is quite a tough match. We know that Sabah FC is very aggressive at home and our team was not performing up to the high standards like they were in the recent matches. However, if we look at it as a whole, the players have performed well, there were just a few mistakes that unfortunately led to the goal being scored," said Tan Cheng Hoe.

From yesterday's #SABSEL match, some important things can be noted such as:-

Samuel Somerville's first 90 minutes

Selangor FC's second goalkeeper breaks into the starting line-up for the #SABSEL match. This is his second action for the 2023 season after coming on as a substitute in the previous match.

Harith Haiqal starts in his third consecutive match

Harith Haiqal continued to play in the starting line-up in the #SABSEL match, convincing the coaches to start him again on the back of his excellent performances in the last two matches. Harith admirably put his body on the line for the team as he suffered an injury to his forehead in a head-to-head clash with Baddrol Bakhtiar in the 90th minute. However, he managed to see out the match.

Despite falling behind in the first half, the team did not give up, even in the last minute of the match Sharul Nazeem did an attempt before the match ended. We created numerous chances and attempts but coulnd not convert to get the result we wanted.

The management is always behind the Selangor squad in any situation. Come back stronger Red Giants!

Selangor FC would also like to thank the supporters who flew to Sabah to support the team. See you in the next match, #PRKSEL at Perak Stadium.

Demi Kebanggaan.
