Selangor FC advanced to the 2023 FA Cup Semi-Finals after defeating Negeri Sembilan FC 3-1 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi.

The Negeri Sembilan FC team scored first with a header from former Red Giants player, Safuwan Baharuddin in the first minute of play, but Mukhairi Ajmal, the team captain for the night, equalised immediately in the third minute of #NSESEL. Selangor FC qualified for the 2023 FA Cup Semi-Finals thanks to two goals from new signing Yohandry Orozco in the 60th and 78th minutes.

Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, praised the fighting spirit of his men.

"It was a tough match for us because we conceded a goal in the first minute, which affected the confidence of the team to some extent. But the mentality shown by each player in the second half was quite good.

"The positive thing about yesterday's game was that the team recovered within two minutes after conceding the early goal and found the equaliser. Praise should be given to the players for showing a high fighting spirit, ultimately qualifying for the next round," explained Tan Cheng Hoe.

Excellent match by Yohandry Orozco

Selangor FC's new import, Orozco scored two important goals that placed the team in the 2023 FA Cup Semi-Finals for the second year running. He finally managed to open his scoring account in the FA Cup match after experiencing minor setbacks at the beginning of the league. He has showed vast improvement day by day, match after match. Orozco has scored two goals and notched three assists for the Red Giants so far.  

The Red Giants midfielders showed good Chemistry

The central trio of Noor Al-rawabdeh, Yohandry Orozco and Mukhairi Ajmal performed brilliantly in Selangor FC's midfield always becoming the focal point and starting the attack. The second half showed pretty much the same, with the introduction of Haiqal Lau, although some tactical changes took place to facilitate the attacking intent during the #NSESEL match.

Norhakim Hassan's last match

Unfortunately, some sad news at the Red Giants camp, #NSESEL was Norhakim Hassan's last game with Selangor FC. He is a player who brings joy to the team with jokes and teasing of his teammates as well as being a senior player who always gives good advice to the younger players. He deserves to be called a SuperSub in the team because he always impacts the game every time he is being brought on. In three and a half seasons with Selangor FC, Norhakim Hassan has scored six goals and three assists in 59 matches. Thank you Hakim! We will always remember your service. Good luck with the new team.

The management is satisfied with the performance displayed by the team but there is much that can be improved before the 2023 FA Cup Semi-Finals. Hopefully Selangor FC will continue to commit in the next matches until the end of the Malaysia League 2023. Come on, Red Giants!
