Match Review LS19 | Selangor FC 2-0 Kuala Lumpur City FC | Klang Valley Is Ours

The Klang Valley Derby did not disappoint as Selangor FC emerge victorious in the 19th Super League match after winning 2-0 against Kuala Lumpur City FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya last night.

It was end-to-end action from the kickoff as both teams search for the first goal to break the deadlock. In the end, Selangor FC managed to score two goals, one in the first half from Harith Haiqal and one in the second half scored by the Red Giants import striker, Ayron Del Valle.

The head coach of Selangor FC, Tan Cheng Hoe, was happy to see the high fighting spirit displayed by the players.

"The players showed a high fighting spirit in yesterday's match. In terms of defense and attack, we clearly performed admirably well in order to get this victory.

"To get compatibility and understanding in the team is not an easy thing. So far they have performed brilliantly but we can't be complacent, there are still some things they need to improve to strengthen the team," stressed Tan Cheng Hoe.

From yesterday's #SELKLC match, there are a few takeaways, such as:-

Club captain crowned as Man of The Match (MOTM)
Showcasing excellent all-round action, Brendan Gan, Captain of Selangor FC was industrious throughout the night as he helped the team in midfield both in defending as well as transitioning into dangerous attacks ensuring that the team carried out the coach's tactics, a mark of a true leader.

Ayron Del Valle's 16th goal in the Super League
Ayron continues his fine form as he added another goal to his tally and remains in contention to be the Super League's top scorer. Being one of the senior players, Ayron always gives his best and has been instrumental in the team's good form. This also makes it his 18th goal with the Red Giants so far.

Top scorer among the defenders
Harith Haiqal scored his second goal consecutively in as many matches. So far he has scored three goals, two in the Super League and one in the Malaysia Cup making him the most productive defender in terms of goals so far.

Tan Cheng Hoe had time to share his opinion about this young player,

"Harith Haiqal is a promising central defender with high potential for the future. He has support around him that always encourages him to continue working hard as a young player. He also has a strong desire to improve his own performance," he explained.

The 9th clean sheet of the Super League competition
The Red Giants defenders and goalkeeper were disciplined and performed excellently yesterday making sure that Selangor FC won the Klang Valley Derby while bagging a clean sheet. The defensive line stopped numerous dangerous attacks from the opposing team and together with Samuel Somerville, did well to ensure that nothing was getting past him that night.

The management is delighted with the fighting spirit displayed in yesterday's match and hopes that the players will continue this winning momentum and carry on this form in the upcoming matches.
