Selangor FC has sealed their place in the AFC Champions League 2 after maintaining second place in the Super League 2023 with three points earned in yesterday's #KDASEL match.

Ayron Del Valle, the top scorer for the Red Giants, capped off a goal in the 63rd minute, following a great cross from Brendan Gan, to secure second place spot in the 2023 Super League with a 1-0 victory.

According to Tan Cheng Hoe, Head Coach of Selangor FC, described this as the sweetest memory throughout his journey as head coach at the Red Giants camp.

"Congratulations to the team for our success. From the beginning of the season everyone worked hard to reach the target. Perhaps at the beginning of the season the players found it difficult to understand my style of play but they were committed to adapt and together achieve the set targets, that is a sweet memory for me.

“However, we still have a long way to go, we need to be consistent and show our best performance in every game after this,” he said.

Samuel Somerville's best performance

Samuel Somerville showed his excellent performance by saving the Red Giants since the early minutes of the #KDASEL match until the end. Attempt after attempt was successfully aborted by him. With that performance, he was named as the Selangor FC's choice of Man of The Match in the #KDASEL Super League 2023.

The defensive line broke the ‘Sang Kenari’ attacking line up brilliantly

Sharul Nazeem, Quentin Cheng, Fazly Mazlan, and especially Safuwan Baharudin have defended the Red Yellow defence solidly in this important three-point match. They have thwarted dangerous attempts from Kedah Darul Aman FC from start to finish. Thus, the team won the match by keeping a clean sheet. 

The Game Changer of the match

None other than Brendan Gan, the captain of the team, was subbed in the second half to help the defensive line but his instinct in producing the assist for the goal made him the real hero in this match. According to Tan Cheng Hoe, "We know Brendan Gan can play in various positions, his performance gave energy to the team. We know his commitment to the team is very high, that is how the goal that brought victory to the team came from."
