Selangor FC Announces Abdi Hassan and Shahrom Kalam To Replace Conor Nestor


Selangor Football Club has announced today the appointments of Abdi Hassan and Shahrom Kalam as the new two Assistant Head Coach of the Red Giants, replacing the vacancy left by Conor Nestor, who recently moved to Cambodia.

Abdi Hassan, a familiar face in the SFC coaching setup, previously led the Under-23 squad, which is currently at the top of the MFL Cup 2024/25 standings. Appointed on an interim basis, Abdi Hassan has a diverse coaching background and extensive experience working with youth teams, making him the ideal candidate for this role.

The other recent addition to Selangor FC to assist Nidzam Jamil is Shahrom Kalam, a former national player known for his role as a central defender for the Red Giants, where he served as captain from 2014 to 2016. Recognized for his leadership qualities on the field and strong defensive skills, Shahrom significantly contributed to the team, helping them win the Malaysia Cup in 2015.

After concluding his playing career, Shahrom has been actively involved in football development and coaching, focusing on nurturing young talent in the sport. His legacy at Selangor FC is marked by his dedication and commitment to the team, making him the right person to continue supporting the Red Giants in the upcoming season and beyond.

During an interview, the head coach of SFC, Nidzam Jamil, expressed his happiness and excitement about the arrival of two new faces to continue assisting the Red Giants. “Abdi is no longer a stranger in the Red Giants family; his extensive experience and ability to develop young talent to the highest levels are highly sought after by the team. As for Shahrom, he is another figure closely associated with the Red and Yellow football scene. His leadership qualities, experience as a player, spirit, and dedication to the team will bring positive elements into the squad,' said Nidzam."

On this occasion, the club would also like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Conor Nestor for all his contributions during his tenure as Assistant Head Coach of SFC and wishes him all the best with his new club in Cambodia.
