#PialaMFL2024-25 Wrap Up


The 2024/25 season was a dramatic and rewarding journey for the Selangor FC Under-23 squad, that proudly secured second place in the Piala MFL (PMFL).

Over the course of 24 matches, the team collected an impressive 52 points from 16 wins, four draws, and four losses.

Throughout the tournament, Aiman Hakimi stood out as the player with the most minutes on the field, clocking in 1,863 minutes. He was followed by Haykal Danish (1,817 minutes), Izrin Ibrahim (1,655 minutes), Rahman Daud (1,623 minutes), and team captain Raimi Shamsul (1,588 minutes), making them the top five players in terms of playtime this season.

While Rahman Daud didn’t lead in minutes, he was the only player to appear in all 24 matches. Close behind, Izrin Ibrahim and Harry Danish featured in 22 games, followed by Haykal Danish and Raimi Shamsul with 21 appearances. Aiman Hakimi, Zharif Zaini, Fakhri Azri, and Nabil Qayyum each played in 19 matches, while Rohisham Haiqal made 18 appearances.

Offensively, the Selangor Under-23 team led the league with 61 goals across 24 matches, making them the highest-scoring team this season. Rahman Daud was the top scorer for the team and the second-highest overall in the PMFL, netting 12 goals, including his first hat-trick in the final match against Kedah Darul Aman. Haykal Danish followed with seven goals; Harry Danish and Rohisham Haiqal each contributed five; Izrin Ibrahim and Nabil Qayyum added four apiece. Alexander Agyarkwa, Reziq Banihani, and Omid Musawi scored three goals each, while Faiz Amer, Aiman Hakimi, and Fakhri Azri netted two each. Additionally, Raimi Shamsul, Haiqal Haqeemi, Ruventhiran Zikri Khalili, Izwan Yuslan, Afiq Danish, Sharul Nazeem, and Aiman Yusuf each added one goal to the tally.

In terms of assists, Izrin Ibrahim led the team with eight, followed closely by Haykal Danish with seven. Four assists each came from Raimi Shamsul, Haykal Danish, Adam Haikal, Rohisham Haiqal, and Nabil Qayyum. Fakhrul Azri and Omid Musawi provided three assists each, while Ruventhiran and Rahman Daud added two each. One assist came from Aiman Hakimi, Zharif Zaini, Azim Al Amin, Zikri Khalili, Afiq Danish, and Yohandry Orozco.

The squad, managed by Abdifitaah Hassan, also recorded eight clean sheets across the season; five in the first round against Sabah FC, Terengganu FC (2-0), PDRM FC (2-0), Perak FC (0-0), and Kuala Lumpur City Extension (2-0); and three more in the second round against Kuching City FC (5-0), Kelantan Darul Naim FC (1-0), and Kedah Darul Aman FC (7-0).

Since their establishment in 2020, the Selangor Under-23 team has made consistent strides. In the first year of PMFL in 2023, the team  finished fourth. This season, they improved significantly, climbing to second place with an average player age of just 20.4 years, making Selangor Under-23 the youngest squad in the tournament.

Rahman Daud (Team Top Scorer): “Of course we are not satisfied with second place, but thank God, we gave our best to overcome the challenges this season.”

Izrin Ibrahim (Team Top Assist'): "A journey that full of challenges, up, down, laugh and tears but I believe it is a great lesson that will help us to be strong and ready for the upcoming and bigger challengers in football." 

Haykal Danish (Top 3 Best PMFL Player & Best Young Player of ABK 2024/25): “Our team gave everything this season, including the players, coaches, and staff. I hope we can carry this good momentum into next season.”

Harry Danish (Top 3 Best PMFL Player of ABK 2024/25): “It’s been a season full of unexpected blessings. I’m grateful to have helped the team secure second place, even though I was nervous at first due to my lack of experience. I still gave it my all. Thank you to everyone who believed in me especially my teammates, coaches, and staff.”
