Sep 08, 2025 - FASFor this Wajah Bola Selangor segment, the Red Giants media unit had the opportunity to interview one of the key figures behind the management of Selangor FC’s official merchandise.
Most Red and Yellow fans must be wondering who is the individual managing both the physical and online sales of Selangor FC’s official merchandise.
Follow this Wajah Bola Selangor feature with Shiela A/P Suntharasagaran, Selangor FC’s official merchandise manager, as she shares the story of her career journey with the Red and Yellow family.
“My name is Shiela A/P Suntharasagaran, but everyone calls me Shiela. I’m 36 years old, the eldest of two siblings, and a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from YPC International College.”
“My career in football began 10 years ago with the Selangor Football Association (FAS). I was deeply involved in league management, covering everything from match scheduling and pitch preparation to venue bookings. Coming from a family that loves Selangor, especially my father, who used to take me to the stadium when I was young, being able to contribute to the game through management was truly a dream,” said Shiela as she began her story.
“Not long after, with the establishment of Selangor FC, I was entrusted with a new responsibility: managing the club’s official merchandise, including the website, Team Card, season passes, jerseys and all other official products. Honestly, this wasn’t entirely new to me, as I already had experience in the field. I’m grateful that the management placed their trust in me, and I’m proud to still hold that responsibility today,” she added.
“During my time managing official merchandise, one of the most important tasks has always been the launch of the new jersey. It requires careful planning and organisation to make sure everything goes smoothly from Team Card management and season passes to stock counts, physical and online sales, and website updates. Everything must be perfectly coordinated so that supporters get the best possible experience,” she explained.
Over the years, Selangor FC has built collaborations with various external brands such as Playaz, G-Shock, SVG, Voltra, Khind and many more, particularly for limited-edition products like jerseys, lifestyle apparel, footwear, watches and electrical items.
“For me, SFC official merchandise isn’t just about products, it represents unity with our supporters. Every purchase helps us make improvements over time. That’s why we put so much care into what we produce, because it’s part of the club’s identity,” she said.
“We’re also working to expand merchandise availability by opening stores at Selangor events, so fans outside Petaling Jaya have access as well. At the same time, our pop-up stores, official website and TikTok platform continue to serve supporters. To make things easier, we’ve even introduced a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) option on the website, allowing fans to pay in installments for official merchandise,” Shiela added.
For Shiela, every supporter should at least own a jersey and a scarf enough for anyone to recognise them as Red Giants fans, even from a distance.
At present, a small shop has already started operating at the stadium as a first step before the opening of a larger official merchandise store.
Although her daily tasks demand plenty of time and energy, Shiela never complains. “People often say I work too hard, but for me, the satisfaction comes from seeing results. I always keep a close eye on my work and make myself available at any time for anything related to official SFC merchandise,” she said.
Concluding the conversation, Shiela expressed her gratitude to the supporters who continue to visit the pop-up stores and stadium outlets to purchase official products. She also thanked her younger brother for understanding her busy schedule, as well as the management, who have entrusted me with the responsibility to continue providing this service until now.
“For me, working behind the scenes with Selangor FC has been such a meaningful journey especially knowing that I can make supporters happy and proud to wear the identity of the Red Giants,” she said.
