Selangor FC officially announces the signing of centreback Mamadou Diarra ahead of the ACLTWO campaign.

Born in Dakar, Senegal, Diarra began his football journey in the youth system of ASC Jaraaf, one of Senegal’s top clubs, where he developed his skills as a central defender. Internationally, he represented the Senegal U20 national team in 2017, earning 10 caps across the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-20 World Cup, while serving as team captain.

The 28 year old spent most of his early professional career in Turkey, playing for Boluspor, Bursaspor, and Giresunspor from 2016 to 2022. He made 125 appearances and scored 8 goals in the TFF First League and Süper Lig, establishing himself as a regular starter and helping Giresunspor reach the Turkish top division after 44 years.

In September 2022, Diarra moved to France to join Grenoble Foot 38 in Ligue 2, where he played for three seasons. During this time, he made 87 league appearances and scored 4 goals.

Thrilled to join a team of talented players, Diarra said, “This is my first time coming to Asia after playing in France and Turkey, and I’m very excited to be part of this club. The coach spoke to me about the team and his plans, which made me even more eager to join. By working hard together, I know we can achieve our goals. I will do my best to organise and motivate my teammates from the back, while also adding character to the team.”

Red Giants head coach Christophe Gamel added, “We signed him to bring leadership and experience to the centre back position, an area affected by injuries. His presence will strengthen the squad and reinforce our defence.”

Diarra’s signing comes under the additional player registration window permitted by AFC rules, which applies only to free agent players. We completed his registration before the closing date of 31 October 2025, to ensuring the squad remains competitive for all fixtures.
