Selangor FC are delighted to announce the signing of Philippines international Jefferson Tabinas, who becomes the club's first foreign signing and fourth new addition ahead of the upcoming Malaysia League season.

The 26-year-old arrives in Shah Alam with an impressive footballing résumé built across some of Asia's most competitive leagues. Born in Tokyo and developed through Japan's renowned football system, Tabinas began his professional career with Kawasaki Frontale, where he was part of the squad that won back-to-back J1 League titles in 2017 and 2018. He later continued his career with several prominent Japanese clubs, including Gamba Osaka and Mito HollyHock, gaining valuable experience in the J.League.

Tabinas then made the move to Thailand to join Buriram United, one of Southeast Asia's most successful clubs. During his time with Buriram, he featured in both domestic and continental competitions, helping the club lift two Thai League 1 titles, the Thai FA Cup, the Thai League Cup, and the ASEAN Club Championship in the 2024/25 season. He later continued his career with Chonburi FC, further enhancing his experience in one of the region's strongest football leagues.

Primarily a left-back, Tabinas is also capable of playing as a centre-back and wing-back, making him a highly versatile defender. His tactical discipline, composure on the ball and ability to operate in multiple defensive roles make him an ideal fit for Selangor FC's style of play. On the international stage, Tabinas has become a key figure for the Philippines national team, representing his country in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, and various ASEAN competitions.

Speaking on the club's latest signing, Head Coach Kim Pan-gon believes Tabinas' experience in both Japan and Thailand will bring significant value to the squad

"Jefferson has proven himself in two of Asia's most competitive leagues, Japan and Thailand. He understands what it takes to compete at the highest level and possesses the mentality of a player who is driven to win. What stands out most to me is his decision-making on the ball, tactical discipline and ability to perform in multiple positions. Players with this level of experience are extremely important because we want to build a team capable of controlling matches, defending with discipline and playing progressive football. I believe Jefferson will become a key player for our squad."

Speaking after completing his move to Selangor FC, Tabinas said the club's vision and ambition were key factors behind his decision.

"Before making my decision, I took the time to understand the club, its culture, its supporters and its vision for the future. What I found was truly impressive. The Philippines international also hopes to use the experience he has gained throughout his career in Japan and Thailand to help the team achieve its objectives.

I can't wait to play in front of the Red Giants supporters and create something special together this season."
