Faisal Halim or popularly known as 'Mickey', was officially announced today as the new local player of the Red Giants to face the Malaysian League competition in 2023.
Faisal first garnered widespread attention with his home state team, Penang, in the 2014 Piala Presiden. It was a stepping stone for him to begin playing in the Premier League 2015 at the age of 17, where he made three appearances scoring one goal and registering an assist for his team, as they finished the tournament as runners-up.
The following year, Faisal made a big decision to move from his state of birth and spread his wings with Sri Pahang FC’s first team in 2016. He was one of the key players who helped Tok Gajah lift the FA Cup in 2018. Faisal made 79 appearances, scoring ten goals and notching four assists in his five year stint with the team.
The player who was born in 1998 then continued his footballing journey by signing a two-year contract with Terengganu FC. Faisal continued to make an impact and made a name for himself as he became one of the key players for The Turtles emerging as the runner-up in the Super League competition this season. His performance improved drastically after he managed to score 27 goals and 42 assists in 101 games with ‘Sang Penyu’.
His stellar performance in the league did not go unnoticed as he was called-up to the Harimau Malaya team for the first time in 2019 and has become a regular player until now and more recently been appointed as one of the National Captains. Faisal, also scored the match-winning goal for the National team against Myanmar in the opening match of the 2022 Mitsubishi Electric AFF Cup yesterday.
Wanting to be an important character in the team, Faisal is confident that he can give his best to strengthen the attacking department of Selangor FC in 2023 because his dream of joining this club has finally come true.
"Selangor FC is a big team, everyone knows and wants to play for this club. Alhamdulillah, I have arrived at the Red Giants camp because this is what I have been waiting for.
I am confident that I can perform well and make a difference for Selangor FC. My goal is to at least make the Red Giants a team to be feared again and I promise to give my best to achieve this," Faisal expressed his target with Media Selangor FC
Selangor FC welcomes Faisal Halim. Hopefully he can strengthen the Red Giants attacking department for the Malaysian League in 2023.
Faisal is the third player to be introduced to the first team after Selangor FC introduced Ruventhiran and Khuzaimi Piee recently.
