Dec 27, 2021 - FASBrazilian born striker Herlison Caion de Sousa Ferreira is officially announced today as the Red Giants' third new import player to face the Malaysian League for the 2022 season.
Hailing from Caxias, Brazil, he has acclimatised himself to the Asian football scene from the early age of 19 playing in the Korean League with Gangwon FC and returning to South Korea in 2018 playing at Daegu FC.
He continued spreading his wings in Asian football, playing in the Thai League for four seasons from 2019 to 2021 with Navy FC, PT Prachuap FC, Chonburi FC, Suphanburi FC and Muangkan United with a total of 85 appearances, scoring 34 goals and getting 13 assists.
With the experience and abilities that he has, Caion's inclusion to the Red Giant’s squad is something that has created excitement according to Selangor FC head coach, Michael Feichtenbeiner.
"I am happy we were able to sign and convince Caion to move from Thailand to Malaysia. He has been a well-known and proven player with his abilities in Thai football for the past 4-5 years.
"With his football style, he can adapt to the transition football we want to play. We need a player who can score goals and with his experience scoring a lot of goals in Southeast Asia, I have a good feeling and full confidence in him," said Michael.
The 184cm tall striker also wants to work together to achieve the plan that the club has set out.
“According to the plan presented to me, the club will strive to achieve success together. I believe this season will be a year where the club will experience great achievements because I am confident we can do it,” said Caion.
Selangor FC welcomes Herlison Caion. Hopefully he can strengthen the Red Giants' attacking force for the Malaysian League this season.
Caion is the sixth latest player to be introduced to the main team after Selangor FC introduced Samuel Somerville, Yazan Al-Arab, Baha' Abdelrahman, Zahril Zabri and Fazly Mazlan yesterday.
